"Being the oldest Catholic Cathedral in America. I must be here. In fact, it is one of the two reasons I want to be in NOLA. The Cathedral is beautiful and yet not so big. It is surprisingly look not as old as one expect it to be. I noticed that one part of the windows paint by the Sanctuary is peeling off. I prayed for it because I could only donate a little. I had a chance to make a confession. What a good feeling that was! Attended a mass at 12:05PM. They are on schedule. The priests homily was full of meaning and wisdom."
Consider visiting during regular open hours to step inside and experience its peaceful interior, perhaps even attending a midday mass.
Take advantage of the open square surrounding the cathedral for people-watching and soaking in the atmosphere. Attend a mass for a truly immersive experience and to hear the priests' meaningful homilies. Be aware of street performers and artists in the lively surrounding area, but know that the cathedral itself offers a quiet respite.
