"This was a really nice boat ride, I'm did the daytime tour, which I do think would probably be a bit more noisy than that of the night due to a bunch of kids and families running around. Nonetheless, the scenery was beautiful and the narration was great as well. The food was quite yummy and the live band was also exceptional entertainment. I would recommend for a quick activity."
"We didn’t buy the dining package for the Steamboat Natchez tour, we just took the two-hour cruise. There’s narration throughout the ride, and I actually found it pretty interesting. We passed by a sugar refinery, and for the first time I learned that it can produce seven million pounds of sugar per day. That was impressive. There are lots of little facts like this along the way. We went on the 2 p.m. cruise, and the lighting was perfect. By the time we got off the boat, the sun was already setting. If you take the evening cruise, you probably won’t be able to see much along the river, though you might get a view of New Orleans at night, I’m not sure how worthwhile that is. Also, if you get cold easily, I strongly recommend booking the dining option, because only dining-package guests can sit indoors. If you plan to sit outside, make sure to dress warmly."
"My sister and brother-in-law bought me the dinner cruise for a Christmas present. The cruise was on the City of New Orleans and not the Natchez. I have to say that the fried chicken is the best! The buffet dinner was very good. The jazz band is wonderful. The downfall was that the second deck had a problem with ventilation from the bathrooms. It seemed that the vents opened onto that deck's seating area. This was not pleasant. Obviously, I did not spend much time on that deck. My only advice would be to go on the Natchez. I have been on that boat two times and enjoyed every minute of it. I know that both boats are owned by the same company and reviews seem to only include the entire fleet. I couldn't find a review portal for just the City of New Orleans."
Afternoon cruises often provide excellent lighting for scenic views, bridging the gap between daylight and pre-sunset ambiance.
